Women’s Golf News 16-3-24

Posted on: 16 March

Hello all,

Wednesday’s Stableford competition was played for the first few holes in “mizzle”.

The cool calm conditions were a relief after the 36-degree heat of the previous three days and the total fire bans.

The course was in beautiful condition.

34 women played in the Wednesday Stableford Competition.

This was the first week of the new prizemoney structure. Our Saturday women had already played under the new conditions.

With only 12 entrants on Saturday there were two prizes awarded. A- 1 and A- 2 Congratulations to Fran Crimmins and Linda Wadden.

On Wednesday with 34 entrants, three prizes were awarded in A Grade, and three prizes in B Grade.

Listed as A-1, A- 2, A – 3 and B-1, B -2, and B-3.

I will include the prizemoney for each winner this week only, so you can get an idea of the increased prizemoney for the Wednesday women’s competition.

Tree Renewal Program

Neil Tonkin has passed away. Vale Neil.

All at the Gisborne Golf Club will miss his enthusiasm and generosity.

Neil is responsible for the tree renewal initiative below.

Neil’s other recent gift to the club was his commissioning and donation of the ten watercolour paintings in the main corridor: a prominent enhancement of our clubhouse.

Take a moment to stop and recognise each hole in each painting.

Want to help maintain and replace the trees on our golf course?  Here’s your chance to support an important project.  Follow the link below, which will take you to our fundraising page  on the Australian Sports Foundation’s website.  Donations start at $2; all are welcome, and all are tax deductible.  Any questions – please contact Roberta on  roberta.henry@bigpond.com.
