Member’s Update 23-4-24

Posted on: 23 April

Hi Members

We have recently formed a subcommittee to increase communication and keep members informed about what is happening following the clubhouse fire.

However, before we provide the update, we would like to sincerely thank all members for their patience, understanding and empathy as we recover from this devastating event. The committee has been humbled by the support of members, with so many offering their assistance in any way they can.

A club is only as strong as its members, and what we have experienced in the last week, reinforces Gisborne is one very strong club.

Now back to the update to keep you informed.

Firstly, it has been determined by investigators the fire was caused by an electrical fault.

Secondly, we understand golf is more than just playing the game and the social interaction and enjoyment we experience with friends after a round is an important part of the whole golfing experience. Hence, we are working hard to get the hospitality area up and running as quickly as possible. We should have a temporary facility in place within the next 3-4 weeks, where we can sit down to enjoy a bevvy and laugh about the shanks and missed putts.

In the interim, we will continue to have the 16th BBQ hole and potentially the 10th BBQ hole up and running for the next few weekend rounds.

Once again, thanks to all members for their support and we will send another update covering all the major issues and developments on a weekly basis.

Best Regards

GGC Committee
