Urgent call for Roo Tour guides

Posted on: 5 August

Roo tours have clearly provided a memorable experience for all those visitors who have engaged with them to date. Financially the club received revenue of $6k in 2021 and $5k YTD in 2022.\

We presently only have  a handful of tour guides available to conduct Roo tours. This means we cannot offer the service on over half of the days in any month. Unless we can attract more guides, the service will either have to be severely cut back or stopped all together. The busiest days for Roo tours are Sunday, Saturday and Wednesday.

How does it work?
  • Guides are rostered on for specific days
  • Guides are notified of any bookings for the day.
  • There can be walk-up bookings to which we need to respond, these patrons are advised to wait while we organise the rostered guide to come on-site.
  • There will be an emergency list of guides to call in case the rostered person is unable to take any tours.
What’s in it for you?
–          Induction & training, so you don’t need to be a kangaroo guru
–          Tours go for just 30 minutes so why not bring your putter and practice before or after the tour – (Drive for Show, Putt for dough)
–          Meet international guests – (you just never know who you will meet) Tom Cruise? Emma Thompson?
–          Know that you are supporting Gisborne Golf Club’s community and putting us on the map
–          Work with a close-knit team

In order to develop a full picture of the available volunteer pool, could all existing/past volunteers and any people wishing to become a volunteer please respond tomanager@gisbornegolf.com.auwith the following details:
  • Date from when available.
  • Are there periods of the year that you would not normally be able to conduct tours?
  • Preferred day or days of the week.
  • How many times a month would you be willing to go on the roster?
  • Would you be willing to go on an emergency call list?
Please submit your responses by the 21st of August.
