Women’s Golf News 19/02/2024
Posted on: 19 February
Hello everyone,
Another mild day on the golf course. It was somewhat cool when we teed off, but the sun appeared around 11.30, to give us a perfect golf temperature.
The course was blown to bits on Tuesday.
Those huge winds that fanned the Grampians fires and brought all the towers down and the power outages really caused a lot of fallen branches and a huge volume of stick and leaf debris on the course.
We were amazed at the speed of our Grounds team led by Lee, and the volunteers.
We were still able to play off our two tees.
They had the greens cleared early and were on the big blowers up and down the fairways clearing branches, debris, and leaves at a great rate.
They provided us with the best possible conditions in very difficult circumstances.
As a thank you gesture we had an impromptu whip around and collected $220 from our players. We hope they enjoyed a beer on us !
There were 51 women on the course.
41 played in the competition and others enjoyed 9 holes of social golf .

LOST
Do you have this special talent ?
- Are you good at spotting lost balls ?
- Are you always seeing the discarded beer bottle tops on the course ?
- Are you the first to find the lost tee after a partner has driven the ball ?
If this is you – we need your special “super observer” talent. On Wednesday, a pearl drop earring with a gold hook and diamonds was lost somewhere between the 6th and 13th holes.
Have a look – if we have plenty of eyes on the fairways and the rough we may find it. Jenny
Buttigieg would be very grateful.
Cheers,
Jenny M
