Ladies Gala Day 2022

Posted on: 31 March

Gala Day for the Ladies was held on Wednesday 30th March and we had 103 players from both our own members and 16 clubs both regional and metropolitan.  The event was once again sponsored by TJ Scott & Son and Kelly Scott joined us for lunch and to present the prizes to the winning teams.  Each year we opt to support a local organisation/charity and this year we could think of no more deserving beneficiary than our local Gisborne SES Unit.  This was timely as their Unit Commander explained to me they were in the process of raising funds to outfit their women in more appropriate uniforms.  Rosie McMahon and Tori Collins represented the SES and Rosie addressed the ladies present, not only about their proposed new uniforms but some of the great work the SES does in the community.  Aside from the normal callouts they receive, they have certainly been busy around here in the last twelve months with at least two major storms and flash flooding.

We are very reliant on the generosity of not only our members but local businesses who support us with raffle prizes.  Our thanks to Baringo, Officebarn, Glama Fruit & Veg, Gisborne Village Homewares & Furniture, Gisborne Flower Shop, Priceline, Sports Physio & Active Rehab, Cellarbrations, Sticky Fingers Children’s Boutique, The Sweet Shop, Gisborne Newsagency, The Town Butcher and Country Gourmet Meat.

The event was won by a team comprising two of our members, Angela Alcock and Karyn Sanders, along with two Lakeside members, Ann Thomas and  Jo Cassanelia.  Runners up were Marg Ivory, Moon Gordon, Dot Slattery and Adrienne Fievez (all Gisborne).
