Women’s Golf News 30-10-23

Hello all,

What a terrific day we had on Wednesday for the Pink Lunch.

BIG Thanks to all our members who: signed up, donated, played, recruited sponsors, purchased raffle tickets, made up the pink gift packs, created the table decorations and placemats, blew up balloons, baked shortbread, knitted, guessed the jellybeans, had a go at the Dinghy Dunk, manned the Dinghy Dunk, threw a coin in the bucket on the second hole, and supported this event and our charity Breast Cancer Trials.

The Committee were thrilled to welcome the Kennedy family for the presentation of the inaugural John Kennedy Trophy, and for the second year of the Maureen Kennedy trophy.

President Gudrun and Captain Sharon welcomed all players and visitors including the local breast cancer support group, and the major sponsor Bendigo Bank.

Sponsors, some of whom are members, were generous in their support donating raffle prizes and (from Ferguson Plarre) the sweet treats, the pink cupcakes.

Thankyou to the the Bendigo Bank – Community Bank Gisborne and District branch for sponsoring this event.

As with all big events a number of volunteers spent time planning, and developing ideas, and it was satisfying for the committee to see the day take shape and be such a success.

Thanks to the Gisborne Golf Club staff, and pro shop for all their help.  Final totals for fund raising will come after reconciliation next week.

Golf is a game of overcoming challenges, every shot, every hole…when the hail arrived in time to give everyone an additional challenge at the end of the day everyone just kept going ! Truly remarkable.

The field of 100 golfers teed off all the holes for the 4BBB competition with a shotgun start at 9.00am in sunshine.
