It is with much sadness that I inform the members of Gisborne Golf Club of the passing of Harry Kamachu.

In his time as a member at Gisborne, Harry was an integral player in the North West Region Pennant Team. Harry regularly was the first player selected and he loved the challenge of Matchplay.

Harry’s passion for Golf was reflected in his promotion of younger players. He took on the role of chaperone to a team comprising Tim Maddern, Alex Fraser, Greg Paine and Garth George in 2008 – 2009. The Team travelled to Malaysia and played for a week at a time in the World Team Golf Championships. On one return, Harry was heard to say that looking after the Team off the course was the hardest thing he had ever done. 

Harry enjoyed the social functions held at the club and he is vividly remembered for his dance moves, especially when his favourite song “Tutti Frutti” was playing.
