Syllabus Update
Club Championships 2024

The General Committee of the Gisborne Golf Club have made the decision to move the 2024 Championships from February to November following the recommendations of the Golf Operations and the Greens Sub-Committees.
The recommendation of the sub committees was based on the consensus that holding the Championships in November would: –

1. Enable the Ground Staff to prepare and the Members to play the course in its premium condition.

2. Provide all Members with the opportunity to play the Championships in less extreme and less hazardous to health weather conditions.

3. Allow the spacing of golfing events, Pennants, Corporate Days etc which will enable Ground Staff to have adequate time to provide the extra care the course needs in hot weather.

In pre-planning for the 2024/2025 syllabus, the dates for the Club Championships have been pencilled in for November 9, 16, 23 and 30.
Both the Women’s and the Men’s Championships will use a similar format to that used in 2023 where members may nominate to play the early rounds on a Wednesday/Thursday or a Saturday.
As in previous years, the Final Day would see the top 8 seeded players in all grades playing their final round from a set tee time.
Following the introduction last year of the multi day format and our Men and Women playing the final day on a Saturday together, which was positively received by members, the last day of the Championships will be a celebration of the Club and the Club Champions.
We would like to think that there will be a bigger turnout this year to support all the finalists and make this a marquee day for the club.
In place of the Club Championship the following Board Event has been moved to February.
