The Silence of the Marsh

The story line of the Movie, “The Silence of the Marsh” was about a writer who murdered people so he could them use them as characters in the plot of his novels.

Ironically, the Colonel’s pennant match mimicked this movie, where he slaughtered his lower C-Grade handicap opponent, which would make a great plot for this week’s write up. But enough of the Colonel and his unbeaten pennant record this season, his tyres are about to burst.

David Davis ditched the standard golf shoes and wore a pair of Hiking boots – and consequently, high on a hill stood a lonely old Goater, Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee “hoo lost” 6/5. His course strategy needs the boot.

William Wallace Oram, who’s blood line originates from the Scottish Highlands, relished the up and down course, winning 5/4. His playing buddy Jarryd Apap, who lives in a tent on the 5th hole at the Marsh, knows every blade of grass, slope, and alligator, won easily 8/6.

Other winners were the unbeaten Jack Rowsell (3/1), the fresh from a relaxing holiday Geordy Nolan (+1) and the Colonel (+2). The emergency player John Gamwell who got the call up on Sunday morning at 7 am, didn’t need a warmup, winning 3/2.

Gisborne won the day by one match, Silencing Bacchus Marsh 6 ½ to 5 ½.

This week we play the current ladder leaders, Werribee Park at Gisborne. A solid win is needed to secure a finals berth, with only 2 matches to go.
