Eynesbury Fall for Gisborne Trap

Posted on: 9 February

On Sunday, Northern Division leaders, Eynesbury travelled to Gisborne to contest for the Top Spot and the advantage of a home final.

But the Colonel; the masterful strategic thinker made the call to throw the match, saving the club some $ to put towards a driving range and positioning Gisborne as the written off, not a hope in hell underdogs; whilst Eynesbury are already designing tattoos and planning their parade. Their heads are a few matches ahead of their puts.

The majority of the Gisborne team followed the Colonels instructions, with 2 A-Graders, 2 B-Graders and 2 D-Graders all losing convincingly. Even the Colonel gave up winning the Divisional MVP award, throwing his match on the 16th.

But not all followed the Colonels instructions!  Johnny Windows was in a hurry to pick up his Grandson, so almost dis a Dave Davis “reversal pike”, beating his opponent on the 11th, 8/7. Window’s skill rubbed off on Kirk Douglas who won his first match of the season. Jack Rowsell finished his season undefeated in all 4 of his matches and Will Oram also won all 3 of his matches this season. Buckley won easy as well 5/3 and a great fight back by Kieran Haddad to square his match with a birdie on the 18th sealed our final spot, sneaking into the final by a meagre ½ a game.

However, like all successful clubs, there was some dissention in the ranks as not all supported the tanking strategy. Following the match, a TEXT damming our esteemed leader was leaked to the Gisborne Gazette;

“He is a hypocrite and a liar from my observations and that is over a long time.

“I have never trusted him and I dislike how he earnestly rearranges the truth to a lie.”

It is believed the TEXT was sparked after the Colonel bragged he eagled the Par 5, 6th.

Of course, no one knows who wrote the text, but some of the team seemed to Re-Joyce in its content!

So, on Sunday we are off to play Eynesbury at Eynesbury to win the Northern Divisional Final. We are the underdogs and short a C3 Grade player, but luckily the Psychopathic D1 Colonel is stepping up again to fill a gap. The cards are completely stacked against Gisborne….but when the going gets tough….the tough get going!
