Please see below an update from Golf Operations re drop zones.

Drop Zones:

Gisborne golf course has drop zones on several holes around the course. Drop zones are used when it is impractical to take the normal penalty dropping procedures or in the case of hole 13 , non penalty drop for abnormal course condition.

However on hole 16 there has been some discussion as to the legality of the drop zone position as it is considerably closer than the normal penalty options available.

In light of this we contacted Golf Australia and explained the situation to them with detailed drawings and history of the drop zone ( to aid golfers who have difficulty carrying the water from the normal options).

The reply from them was…. “We can confirm that this is an additional option for all players , and in this case the committee has maintained the integrity of the hole by making the player negotiate the water, albeit with a smaller carry”.
