NWRGA Pennant Wrap

Posted on: 10 February

Hero’s to Zeros.

The North West Pennant season came to an abrupt halt at 6 pm on Saturday 3rd of February, when the extreme heat policy rule was applied.

If the Bureau of Meteorology forecast the temperature to reach 38 degrees in Melbourne on the Sunday, all games are cancelled.

So, even though it was forecast to be 37 degrees or lower at 5 of the courses where matches were to be held, because the rule is based off the Melbourne forecast, everything was cancelled.

It was the most disappointing end to a season ever. It was even more disappointing than when the Covid lockdown robbed us of playing a final against Northern in 2020.  However, Spiro Kourkoumelis said it was not as disappointing as the Blues 1 point loss to the Pies in the last match of 2022 to miss the finals.

Well done to the team for a great season. We were on track to play finals before the rug was pulled from under our feet.

Also well done to Roberta and Moon for joining our team.

And mother nature; well, you know what you can go and do.
