“Hogan’s Hero’s Melt On 1st Pennant Match”

Posted on: 13 January

After coming runner up in in the Western Division Pennant series last year (for not turning up due to Covid) the Gisborne Team was full of confidence as they headed off to play “Melton Valley”.

But unfortunately, the team was suffering a “Divisional Runner’s Up” hangover, as the Melton Valley team gave Hogan’s Hero’s an absolute Shellacking, winning 9 ½ to 2 1/2 .

There are no excuses for such a flogging, apart from the course, the weather, the early tee off time, Covid, 5G, Dan Andrews and Sco Mo (for political balance) Djokovic and the insistence by Matty Laing that we repeatedly listen to the Melton Valley Golf Club theme song on our bus trip to the course.

Of course, from the rubble, a few flowers bloomed; namely the Captain and Jack Rowsell who both won, and Matty Laing who finished square.

This week we take on the RAAF at Gisborne; so if you hear some air-raid sirens and then a few Planes crashing on Sunday afternoon, you can assume the Gisborne team has regrouped and started to take down the opponents.
