“Finals Here we Come”

On Sunday, the Northern Division Ladder leaders Werribee Park travelled to Gisborne to take on Hogan’s Hero’s.

They arrived with an entourage of 12 players, numerous caddies, 2 masseuse’s and well know sports mental brain tweaker, Ben Crowe. Their team, caddies and supporters were dressed in matching pink tops and blue shorts that still had dry cleaner tags on them.

But as impressive as the boys from the Open plane Zoo presented; it wasn’t long before “dress for show, put for doe” bubbled to the surface.

The three A Graders, Payne, Apap and Laing all won their matches. Also the three B Graders, Davis, Rowling and the freshly selected Simpkin won their matches. C-Graders, Orwin and Haddad won their matches and the Colonel, who now refers to himself as an All-Grader also won, continuing his unbeaten record.

Overall, the Gisborne Pennant team won 9 out of the 12 matches, which catapulted them to 2nd place on the ladder, just 0.5 of a point off the top place.

Sunday is the last match of the season against Ladder leaders, Eynesbury. It’s another home match for the Gisborne team and a win should secure a top spot and home final the next week (and most likely against Eynesbury again).
