Driving Range Update

Posted on: 7 October

Hi Members

Almost one year ago, October 20th, the Driving Range was opened. I wanted to provide an update regarding the performance and the next steps with regards to covering the range for all year use.

To date there have been 753,500 golf balls hit on the range, with usage running at around 60% general public and 40% members. I am sure everyone has noticed the amount of young people who are now on the range or at the course.

Revenue generated is sitting around $122,575, considerably higher than the $40,000 in revenue that was forecasted.

I think everyone would agree that it has performed beyond expectation. Membership in the club has risen from 649 at the end of 2022, to 772 today, with Junior membership increasing from 29 last year to 45, and Young Adult 18-24 from 39 to 70, largely being driven by the range and the quality of the course.

What are the next steps for the range?

  1. The materials for the driving range shelter will be delivered Monday 16th of October, weather permitting.
  2. Construction is scheduled to start the following week to cover the hitting bays, with a 7mx7m teaching studio at the 10th Tee end.
  3. Construction will take between 3 and 4 weeks.
  4. The area behind the bays and in the teaching studio will be concreted following construction of the shelter.
  5. There will be occasional days where the range may need to be closed for a few hours or for the day, please keep an eye on the portal and the clubs Facebook page for updates.
  6. The club are putting plans in place for balls to be hit from the grassed area during construction. Please be mindful that this will be a construction zone with power tools required for the build, along with no go areas for members and public, temporary fencing will be in place. Please follow all directions from the staff at the club through this period.

Driving Range memberships will also be up for renewal. Driving range memberships will be offered all year and will run the same as your normal membership, the 12 months is taken from the day you pay. There will be an increase from last year, renewal and new driving range memberships will now cost $550 for members, and $660 for general public.

Please see me if you have any questions about the construction or membership.

Best Regards

Brett Campbell

General Manager
