Hi Members

A.J. HARLOCK Trophy

A large field contested the first round of the A.J. Harlock last Thursday and some excellent scores were recorded. The event rounds 2 and 3 will be played over the next two weeks. Current standings will be updated after Round 2.

ANZAC Perpetual Trophy. April 22nd

Congratulations to Jenny Buttigieg on her great round of golf last Saturday. Jenny shot a fantastic score of 46 Stableford points. At the end of the round, Jenny was heard to say, in her most modest manner, “I left a few out there”.

Just as well she did, I reckon!

RAY KEANE 4BBB KNOCKOUT

The qualifying round of the Ray Keane 4BBB Knockout will be played this coming Saturday April 29th.

See the Golf Operations Notice Board for the Event Conditions.

Also remember to let the Pro Shop know if you do not intend to qualify for the future rounds of this event.

 SENIOR MEN’S PENNANT

Our Senior Men’s Pennant team played in the Final at Kooringal on April 14th. Unfortunately, we were not able to bring home the bacon. The final result was very close, and we congratulate the Team on a fine season. Special thanks to Paul Delia and Brian Hunter for their work in managing the team over the season.

GOLF AUSTRALIA MEN’S, WOMEN’S, and YOUTH PENNANT.

The season for 2023 concluded on Sunday April 23rd for these teams.

The Men’s Team under the management of Jason Lock, managed to maintain their position in Division 5. It was great to see a few new names in the team representing the Gisborne Golf Club. A special thanks to all players and caddies for your efforts.

Both the Women’s and the Youth Teams suffered from a lack of available players this season. The club would like to acknowledge the contribution of all players and officials involved with these two teams in season 2023 and we look forward to growing the interest and participation of club members in these Teams over the coming years.

Pitch Marks on greens.

With the recent coring work to the greens, the surfaces are noticeably softer and pitch marks are occurring more easily. Please repair all marks you come across, not only your own.

 Raking Bunkers.

It is every players’ responsibility to rake the bunker after playing you’re your shot.

Once you have played the ball out of the bunker you should make sure that you do not just rake/pull all the sand towards the back of the bunker. Rather, push the sand towards the face of the bunker and then smooth it out with the back of the rake and not the prongs.

NEVER USE THE RAKE’S PRONGS on the FACE of the Bunker, only the back of the rake. Make sure you push the sand up the face, not drag it down the face.
